Diana Raznovich, Argentine playwright and cartoonist has written a dozen plays characterized by humor, intelligence and unwavering defiance of delimiting social systems. In plays such as Disconnected, Matrix, Inner Gardens, Rear Entry (available in Defiant Acts: Four Plays by Diana Raznovich, a bilingual edition edited by Diana Taylor and Victoria Martínez, Bucknell U.P. 2002) and From the Waist Down (included in Holy Terrors), Raznovich uses her art to critique and transgress social restrictions imposed since her coming of age during the time of the Dirty War (1976-83). Raznovich has won prestigious awards the world over, including a Guggenheim in the U.S. Her works have been translated into English, Italian, German, and other languages.
